Racism Is Something We Have All Witnessed - 1322 Words

Racism is something we have all witnessed. Many people believe that race is a way to categorize other humans, but it is typically a stereotyped classification of people with no accurate reasons. In other words, the distinction we make between races has nothing to do with genetic characteristics. Race is not a real difference in people, and was created by how people see and understand ideas, culture, and customs of people we are not used to or don t seem the same as us.. The definition of race depends on when and where it is being used. In U.S. history, the label â€Å"white† has different meanings and has changed over time, adding groups like Italians, Irish and Jews. Other groups, like African, Latino, Asian, etc., have found the path for†¦show more content†¦This is because our brains are accustomed to seeing a colored person less than a white person. A little roll of the eyes or a look of disgust may seem like no big deal, but to the person receiving these actions, it may be very hurtful. Nicholas Kristof says, â€Å"Research in the last couple of decades suggests that the problem is not so much overt racists. Rather, the larger problem is a broad swath of people who consider themselves enlightened, who intellectually believe in racial equality, who deplore discrimination, yet who harbor unconscious attitudes that result in discriminatory policies and behavior.† Most people these days probably believe in equality and are unaware that they are discriminating. Racism can be silent and hard to spot but it is â€Å"evil and sharp as a knife.† White supremacy in America has been happening for many centuries, and even the abolition of slavery only set them free, they still did not have any rights. Instead, it was kept alive throughout society in other ways in a racial caste system known as Jim Crow. Many doctors and researchers agree that â€Å"the worst racial atrocities that took place in the Jim Crow South were carried out by the medical establishment, not by night riders cloaked in sheets.† Jim Crow was not just a set of laws, it was considered normal to keep people of color from exercising their rights as full citizens. Jim Crow showed that whites thought they were superior to other races,

Iziziz free essay sample

Research paper. Around the world In poor places like Africa and South America there Is no electricity and there is a need for it. I have found a cheap way to create electricity as it is shown above. Electricity is very important to us today because it is used to power almost everything in the world. For example the all the technology that the united States uses today it is all powered by electricity. Electricity Is very expensive for example batteries, they cost a lot and power a lot of things like flash lights, toys, clocks, watches and many more things so therefore electricity is a need and we a cheap way generate it.There are similar inventions like my project but they are not exactly cheap. One way is solar, but you must buy the solar panels for it and they are not cheap on average one solar panel costs about 0 and above. We will write a custom essay sample on Iziziz or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page This Is why my project is cheap and different from others. Electricity has been around for a long time but it is not cheap. It was created by Benjamin Franklin in the century. In the early century Benjamin Franklin created it from the old texts that existed 2750 . This texts were electric fishes that gave electric charges. There was really no electricity until the century he created It. Around 600 static electricity was created by Tales of Miles who was the first to into electricity. Even Franklin is the father of electricity he was helped by Tales of Miles. This Is what electricity and how it was created and who created it. My problem Is really Important because It really helps the world.Electricity Is really important to us because most if the things we do use electricity. Images a world without electricity, it would not be pretty. In Africa and some places in South America there is no electricity and they dont have enough money to buy it so they must make their own This way Is very productive and is easy, when people learn how to do this and have all the they can use it for anything like light, power for anything like fans because Its hot or use for many other things. This Is the Importance of my project and how it helps the world Labs write up Problem statement 0 What Is a cheap way to generate electricity Hypothesis If I use candles then I can generate electricity with a cheap cost for people who need it. Materials [l Two candles Clone liter [l One light bulb to test the electricity (3. 7 volts or lower) D Two copper red and black wires to run electricity thru C] Two nails Stick one nail in each candle 0 Peel 1 inch of each end of the wires 0 Wrap on end of each wire on each nail 0 Then put one end of the wire on the bottom tip of the bulb and put t he other end anywhere. Then have someone light both candles and the light bulb will go on. Data 0 This procedure is a productive way to create electricity. This experiment cheats about four volts of electricity. To test this experiment a light bulb of at least 3. 7 volts or lower because higher than that is above 4 volts and the candles will not make enough electricity to power it. In this experiment the light bulb was about 3. Volts of it worked. This experiment is used to make electricity but the 4 volts is not a lot so this experiment can be preformed many times to make an efficient amount of electricity to power anything because there is no electricity in Africa and South America. So this is how much electricity this experiment makes and what is can power. Conclusion In conclusion I say that I have a solved a problem in the world. There are many other ways to create electricity but they are not cheap and some places dont have the money to buy all the things to make the electricity. This experiment is simple, cheap, and is not time consuming.

Othello and Family Guy free essay sample

QuagmireOthello Cast inspired by the characters of Michaela N Cleveland Brown as Othello Cleveland Brown is overall a kind person with a hot temper. He becomes jealous easily, especially in terms of his marriage and wife. Cleveland trusts his friends to a fault, and is dim-witted. All these traits strike a strong resemblance to Othello. Similar to Othello, Cleveland racially does not fit in among friends, and both are treated different as a result. Both men also are trusted by their friends, and care more about what is going to make them happy in the moment, rather than long term. Cleveland and Othello tend to speak coarsely and slowly, as opposed to those who they mingle with. Othello and Cleveland furthermore are laid back. The men usually are the puppets of their mates, going with the flow and believing the most ridiculous of things. Cleveland represents Shakespeares Othello quite perfectly. We will write a custom essay sample on Othello and Family Guy or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Brian as Iago Brian is extremely intelligent, logical, and rational character. He is trusted, but not loyal to those who trust him. His motivations are not always clear or obvious. Brian is thought of as â€Å"mans best friend† but he doesnt act that way. He is generally mean spirited, quick-tempered, and has a sarcastic, dry, yet hilarious, sense of humor. These traits bear resemblance to Iago, Othellos enemy. Iago and Brian are also manipulative, deceptive, and untrustworthy. Both characters lack a sense of emotion and compassion, as they are willing to do things, like kill friends or a wife, easily. Brian has a crush on Louis, and Iago is taken by Desdemona. Together they have a love-hate relationship with women, enjoying them physically, but annoyed with femininity and emotional drama. Iago and Brian mirror each other perfectly. Lois as Desdemona Lois is a complex, sweet, yet dark, jealous, and somewhat cold-hearted woman. She is known to cheat, be devious, and be extremely flirtatious, which in turn gets her into trouble. She loves her husband, but doesnt have a problem with being unfaithful to him. She is known to be a beauty, and to have left her father to pursue a crazy lifestyle. Lois is a strong, independent woman despite being a wife. She furthermore has a bewitching affect over men, and she uses this gift to get what she wants. Desdemona is very much like Lois in all this attributes. Desdemona seems innocent but is truly brilliantly mischievous. Both are smart, but dont always think before they act. They are both comparable, thus match beautifully. Joe Swanson as Michael Cassio Joe makes a perfect Cassio. Joe is a police officer, just as Cassio is a lieutenant. Joe is devoted, loyal, moral, masculine, buff, admirable, and honorable. Cassio in Othello is also very much like this. Glenn Quagmire as Roderigo Roderigo is rich, rather foolish, too trusting of Iago, and interested in Desdemona. Quagmire is also well off, acts unintelligently, and is interested in women to an extreme. Both men are so obsessed over a certain woman they will do whatever it takes. They trust their friends to a fault and lack compassion. Both men exemplify immaturity too. Therefore, Quagmire and Roderigo quite nicely pair up. Bonnie as Bianca Bianca and Bonnie were prostitutes, loved fame and a title. They spoke softly and meaningfully. Carter as Brabanzio Carter is fatherly, rich, over-protective of his daughter, self-important, powerful, devious, blustering, and gets angry with his daughters husband numerously. Brabanzio is also fatherly, a senator, very protective of his daughter, devious, blubbering, self-intelligible, and is upset when his daughter leaves him for Othello. Both men hate their sons-in-law with a fiery passion. They are two of a kind.
